As someone who is a self-proclaimed oenophile, when visiting a new place, the first thing I google is the closest wineries. So, of course, during my most recent visit to the Tampa Bay area, I just had to see what kind of hidden gems I could find.
And I found 10 really good ones.
When most people think about wineries in the US, the first places that come to mind are Napa or the finger lakes. But did you know there are several wineries in Tampa, FL?
Before I started researching places to drink wine in Tampa, I didn't know either. But now I am sharing some of my favorite finds in the Tampa Bay area and beyond.

1. Tarpon Springs Castle Winery
Located in Tarpon Springs, Florida, Tarpon Springs Castle Winery is considered the only European winery east of the Mississippi. They pride themselves on making European hand-crafted wines made without chemicals.
Their family recipes have been passed down for generations, making each bottle a labor of love. Don't expect a traditional wine tasting here. They have quite the story to share, meaning you will be taken on a journey and not just a wine tasting.
Our favorite thing about Tarpon Springs Castle Winery is that their wines are sulfate-free and preservative-free, which means you are less likely to get that wine headache that some get after enjoying a glass or two.

2. Keel and Curley Winery
Nestled in the heart of Plant City, Florida, is Keel and Curley Winery – a hidden gem waiting to be experienced. Founded by local farmer Joe Keelback in 2003, this winery boasts a unique selection of wines made from 100% high-bush blueberries grown under the warm Florida sun.
From sweet to bold, Keel & Curley's blueberry wines offer a distinct taste you won't find elsewhere. But that's not all – the winery produces fusion wines, a delightful blend of grape and fruit juice.

We have visited a number of times, and the staff has always been friendly and knowledgeable, making the tasting highly worthwhile.
The staff preselects the tastings; however, after the first set of selections, you can choose an additional wine to taste.
If you're adventurous and want to try more, you can select four wines for just $10. Overall, this winery provides a budget-friendly and enjoyable experience perfect for locals and tourists alike.

5. Strong Tower
If you're a wine enthusiast and enjoy a good glass of vino, you won't want to miss Strong Tower Winery in Tampa, FL. As a certified Florida Farm Winery, they take great care in growing and selecting their grapes for their unique flavors and characteristics.
You can taste their dedication to quality in every sip. And while the wines themselves are reason enough to visit, the beautiful tasting room and veranda offer a relaxing and picturesque setting for enjoying a glass (or two).

If you're in the Tampa area and looking for a place to unwind and enjoy some high-quality beverages, Southern Brewing & Winery should definitely be on your radar.
This is more of a taproom (and different from your traditional winery atmosphere). But this is a popular hangout for locals, and it's easy to see why.
Not only do they offer an impressive selection of 38 taps, featuring everything from beer and wine to cider, kombucha, and even nitro coffee, but all of their offerings are crafted on-site with an “amped up” homebrew system.
Whether you prefer to sip your drink in the tranquil Bier Garten or participate in one of their many hosted activities, like Trivia Wednesdays or live music sessions, there's something for everyone here.
And if you're feeling inspired, you can even buy all the necessary supplies to brew beer or make wine. It's no wonder that Southern Brewing & Winery is considered one of Tampa's most exciting and unique wineries.

With a nice assortment of wines to choose from, there's something for everyone. But don't expect anything too fancy here – the ambiance is simple and down to earth. The friendly and knowledgeable bartender will make you feel right at home.

When it comes to wine tasting, there's nothing quite like a visit to the Rosa Fiorelli Winery. Founded in 1998, this family-owned establishment offers an experience unlike any other.
During your wine tasting, you'll receive a warm welcome, an introduction to the winery, and a detailed history of its roots. But that's just the beginning.
You'll also get to sample six of the locally crafted wines and/or wine sorbets that are available. And the best part? You get to choose which ones you want to try! You will have the option of various wines ranging from dry to sweet and even some recent fruit wine additions.
And remember, all the wines include at least one of their various property-grown grapes. A visit to the Rosa Fiorelli Winery will leave a lasting impression.
