Fun Things to Do in Tampa For Couples

1. Go Kayaking on the Hillsborough River
Start your day with an early morning kayak on the Hillsborough River. Head to Urban Kai, where you can rent a kayak or stand-up paddleboard or opt for a guided tour.
You will start at Armature Works, located in the historic Tampa Heights neighborhood, and make you're way towards downtown, where you will get to see the sights of downtown Tampa and take in all its beauty.
During your paddle, you will enjoy the views of the University of Tampa with its fantastic architecture and glistening minarets. You will also paddle by downtown Tampa where you can enjoy the skyline from a different perspective.
Depending on your fitness level, you can continue to the bay, where you may be lucky enough to get a glimpse of the infamous pirate ship that makes an appearance every year for Gasparilla.

2. Have a romantic Breakfast at Driftlight.
If you are looking for a romantic breakfast before heading out for the day, look no further than Driftlight. Their cozy booths are perfect for a romantic breakfast together. Located in the JW Marriot in downtown Tampa, Driftlight takes breakfast to a whole other level.
What we loved about breakfast at the Driftlight was the options. You can choose the breakfast buffet that includes all the classic items like bacon, eggs, and pancakes or order from the a la carte menu. Our personal favorites are the Avocado Toast and Egg Benedict.

3. Candle Making at The Candle Pour
We always look for something fun and different to do when visiting new cities. For this trip, we decided to try candle making, which was great for date night. We headed to The Candle Pour located in Hyde Park Village.
Upon arrival, you are given a sheet where you can select your favorite scents from a wall of over 100 options. After you select your scents, one of the candle specialists will help you select your final blend and walk you through mixing and creating your custom candle.
Afterward, you will name your candle and let it set for two hours. This is the perfect activity to do right before dinner. You can make your candle, head to dinner (which is exactly what we did), and come back to pick it up afterward.

4. Take a thrilling ride on the Bay Rocket.
If you are seeking some adrenaline, a ride on the Bay Rocket is a must. This is a new attraction in Tampa Bay and a fun way to explore the city.
We boarded the Bay Rocket at the Tampa Convention Center and strapped in for the thrilling ride. The scenic ride starts slow as you ride by Bayshore. You will start by riding past some of Tampa's most beautiful homes. Enjoy the sites along the way because before you know it, you will be going at speeds of up to 45 mph, and 180-degree turns will have your heart racing.
The Bay Rocket packs a punch with its 2800 horsepower engine, so expect to get wet as you speed through Tampa Bay.
The ride takes about 45 minutes to an hour and will take past many sites in Tampa, including the iconic Bayshore Boulevard.

5. Go on a Brewery Tour
Tampa is home to several breweries. It seems like there is always a new brewery popping up every month. So a brewery tour is an excellent idea if you and your partner are craft beer lovers. We got to visit Ulele Spring Brewery, located in the Heights District, for brews and lunch.
At Ulele, you can grab drinks from Ulele’s Brewery located on-site while taking in the views of their fantastic beer garden overlooking the Hillsborough River. They offer fresh-brewed lagers and ales using only the finest grains, hops, and yeast and use ingredients such as fresh fruit and even locally sourced honey.
It's a great way to bond over good beer and conversation. And if you want to go on a brewery tour, tours are available on request. You can learn more about the brewery here.
After lunch, if you want to go on a little brewery crawl, check out Cigar City Brewing and Tampa Bay Brewing Company.

6. Take a ride on the Pirate Water Taxi.
The Pirate Water Taxi is a great option for getting around the different sites in Tampa Bay. Park your car and take ride on this hop on, hop off water taxi with stops throughout the Channelside District, Tampa's Riverwalk, and Davis and Harbour Islands.
It's a great way to get around the Tampa area but it's also great if you just want to enjoy a ride on the river taking in the different sites in Tampa.

7. Enjoy a morning coffee date at Quiquiriqui.
Located in Ybor City in the Hotel Haya, this Cuban-inspired coffee shop is perfect for a morning coffee date. In addition to a great café con leche, they also have a nice variety of delicious food.
Try the Cubano croissant, which is filled with all the fixings of a traditional Cuban sandwich, such as ham, pork, and Swiss cheese. After you have had your fill, take a stroll down 7th Avenue and enjoy the quietness of Ybor City or go on a historical walking tour of Ybor City.

8. Go on a walking tour of Ybor City.
Even if you have lived in Tampa your entire life, there is something about Ybor City. And I am not talking about the bars and clubs. I am talking about the history of Ybor City. Founded in 1885, Ybor City is known for being the world's cigar capital.
A great way to get to know the history is with a historical walking tour of Ybor City with Ybor City Historic Walking Tours. Meet your experienced tour guide on 7th Avenue (or La Setima as it's called), where the tour will start.
He will take you back in time to experience the old-world charm of this national historic landmark.
Learn about the artisans rolling cigars, with some practicing the same techniques taught over 125 years ago. And explore an area full of timeless architecture where you will find bustling nightlife and delicious Latin Cuisine at places such as The Columbia restaurant at night.
This is a fun, unique experience and a great way to explore Ybor City.
Bonus Tip: Visit in October for Ybor Ghost Tours, where you will have an opportunity to step inside the 4th most haunted building in America – the Cuban Club.

9. Have Brunch at 7th and Grove
Tampa is known for its unique brunch spots. And 7th and Grove is one of the best. This southern-inspired restaurant recently opened in Ybor City, but you would never know based on its popularity.
(When we visited at 11am on Sunday, there was already a line out the door).
Skip the mimosas and try one of the fun craft cocktails, such as the Mariah Moscow Mule or Snoop Dogg. For Brunch, the biscuits are a must, followed by the “Before I let you go” with pairs of fried chicken tenders with french toast for a sweet and savory feast.
Add the fantastic DJ spinning everything from old-school hip hop to the top 40s, and you will be sure to have a fantastic brunch with your boo.

11. Take a ride on a tiki boat cruise.

The cruises are two hours, and you will cruise past some of the most stunning views of the Tampa skyline. The tiki boats are BYOB, so you can bring drinks and food. It is a unique way to spend the day with your love.

If you are a thrill seeker and love a good theme park, a visit to Busch Gardens Tampa Bay cannot be missed. This African and Asian-themed park combines thrilling roller coasters with an up-close view of many different animals and fun shows.
