I really meant it when I told everyone I was going to Oregon to drink alllll the Pinot Noir. We arrived on Friday night and three days later we were proud to say we visited 12 wineries in 3 days. And lived to tell the tale. But before you ask if I was dying from a wine hangover. The answer is Coconut Water. It is my hangover cure. But enough about that. Let's talk wine.
The Williamette Valley has been on my radar for a long time so when we found cheap tickets we jumped on the opportunity and decided to spend our long holiday weekend drinking all the Pinot Noir. I think the trip was successful since we managed to visit 12 wineries. Because we covered so much ground I will be writing two posts about our adventures. 12 wineries in 3 days is a bit aggressive. Not sure how I lived to write about it but it was one of the best trips. Before we get into wine lets talk about logistics.
Every summer about half of New York City heads out to the Hamptons on Friday night for a weekend of fun in the sun. Not only is it expensive ($500 bucks a night for a motel room) but the traffic is horrendous (upwards of 5 hours depending on the time of day). You can take the train out there and avoid the traffic but I personally like the convenience of having my own car. You are probably wondering why I am talking about the Hamptons when it is snowing out. Don't worry. I am getting to my point.
A few weekends ago DH and I decided to spend our anniversary weekend in the Hamptons. It was a last minute trip but just to sum it up not only did we make it out to Southampton in under 90 minutes but we were able to find a hotel room for the night for around $100 bucks that put us about 5 minutes away from the wineries we were hoping to visit.
